Where to Purchase Lacrosse Equipment-
We have two local chains that sell lacrosse equipment, Dick's Sporting Goods and Big 5 Sporting Goods. The selection in these local stores is fairly small. Dick's Sporting Goods at the Columbia Center Mall has quite a bit more selection and more inventory available than either of the two local Big 5 Sporting Goods locations.

Here are some suggestions for online retailers and other ideas for online shopping for new lacrosse equipment(in no particular order):

LaxSteals is a "daily deal" site owned by Universal Lacrosse. You can sometimes find some great deals on new gear. It's just a matter of whether what you need becomes available, and if you are not ultra picky about specific brands/products.

Pre-owned/Used Equipment-
Used gear can be a great budget-friendly option, however, you will want to make sure all equipment meets current certification requirements. (SEI NOCSAE or SEI ASTM )There is quite a lot of used gear for sale that does not meet current requirements. RLC wants to help you avoid purchasing equipment that is unable to be used. If have any concerns in regard to an item, you would like to purchase, please email an item photo or a link to the item you are interested in purchasing to, and we can let you know if it is currently legal for use before you waste your money.

boys Equipment

Boys in 1st-8th Grades playing lacrosse with Richland Lacrosse Club need the following equipment:

Helmet-
Youth players may have any color helmet. If your player is nearing high school, something to consider when acquiring a lacrosse helmet, is that all Richland High School players will need a white helmet. All helmets must have this certification on it.

Chest Protector(Shoulder Pads)-
Chest protectors for goalies and field players must be NOCSAE ND200 certified to be used during practice or games. Any chest protector without the label is NOT LEGAL for use in a practice or a game. The chest protector will have a label like this:

Arm Guards-
All boys field players are required to wear arm guards or arm pads designed for lacrosse. If the arm guards are too loose, they will slide down the arm and get in the way. You want the arm guards snug enough to stay up, but not so tight that they are restrictive.

Gloves-
All field players must wear gloves designed for lacrosse. The gloves should fit snugly, but not not so tight that they are very restrictive.

Athletic Cup-
All boys players in 1st-8th Grade+ are required to wear an athletic supporter/athletic cup. There are jock-style and compression short styles available to hold the  athletic cup in place. Many boys tend to like the compression shorts with cup pocket.

Lacrosse Stick-
For boys grades K-4, all field players will use "attack" sticks. If you have a smaller-sized player in the lower grades, there are some Jr size attack sticks available. This might make it a little easier for them to handle. Please do not purchase toy lacrosse sticks for use during practice or games(FiddleStix or mini sticks). the heads of toy sticks are not designed to work well with standard lacrosse balls.

Boys in 5th-8th grade+ play on a larger field, and are allowed to have up to 4 players using defensive poles that are up to 6ft long. If your child plans to play defense or LSM(long stick mid-fielder), they will likely need a "D pole" or defensive shaft.

Mouthguards-
All players are required to wear a mouthguard. Please do not purchase the "binky-style" mouthguards that wrap around the lips. Lacrosse players need to be able to talk to each other with their mouthguards in. It is always a good idea to have a backup mouthguard in your player's gear bag. Boys players mouthguards may be any color, including white or clear.

While there are lacrosse cleats, football cleats and soccer cleats are good alternatives, and can be easier to procure. Plastic cleats only. No metal baseball cleats are allowed.

Goggles-
